Paul J. "Polka Paul" Pelletier

Paul Jacques Pelletier passed away at his home on Thursday, March 5, 2020, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born on July 30, 1935 in Salem, Massachusetts and graduated from Salem High School in 1954. He attended Burdett College, Lynn, MA, and received a diploma from the NBC Radio and Broadcasting School, Boston, MA. He moved to Omaha with his mother Beatrice and stepfather, Stanley J. Jaworski at his retirement.
Paul proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He retired as a Master Sergeant after serving his country for 23 years. He was decorated with the Bronze Star medal for meritorious service while engaged in military operations against Vietcong forces. He was stationed in Germany until his retirement in 1979.
He embraced the Polish culture of his stepfather and his childhood neighborhood, which began a lifelong love of Polish music and dance. He was member of numerous Polka clubs in Omaha and became known as "Polka" Paul. Polka Paul hand-sewed his ethnic outfits and the spectacular hand-made cape that he wore to polka dances and for special celebrations. He lived life to the fullest and in retirement continued to travel, making numerous trips to Poland with his many friends and his twin sister, Pauline.
He was an extremely generous and caring person who contributed many years of volunteer service to the Omaha community. He was an extraordinary minister of holy communion at Saint Stanislaus Church and served as a Lecter and was a member of the choir. He volunteered at the 36th and L street Hy-Vee store in Omaha for many years and was known as "Mr. Hy-Vee". Paul was a member of the Polish home and was a volunteer there. He was a past president of the Golden Gems.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice (Matton), stepfather, Stanley J. Jaworski, and father, Albert Pelletier. He is survived by his sister, Pauline J. Sullivan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
