Ray was an army veteran who proudly served his country in the Korean War. He later worked as a mechanical engineer and was involved in the design and implementation of several attractions at the world's best Henry Doorly Zoo.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances (Sedlacek) Koubek.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lucille; son Dave (Kris); daughter Karen Zelensky; grandchildren Kristopher Zelensky, Andrew, Sarah, and Lydia Koubek; sisters Joann Pechacek and Marilyn (Bern) McShane; sister-in-law Katherine Stinson; and many nieces and nephews.
