Ray Mills died tragically on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the age of 89 years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann, of 61 years; grandson Matthew, parents-Mary and Everett Mills; father, Raymond Ward
Ray is survived by son Ray (Robin) Mills; daughters Sharon Lane, Patricia (George) Penke; Sandra (Dustin) Miller; grandchildren Michelle, Crystal, Rachel, Raymond, Mary, Ryan, William, Jennifer, Regina and Allyssa; 16 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Raymond is a veteran of the Korean War. He served in three branches of the military: In 1948-1951 he served in the U.S. Marines. From 1951-1953, he served in the U.S. Army (26th Infantry regime) in the Medical Division while stationed in Germany. In Germany, he came down with Hepatitis C where he almost died. In 1956-1980, he served in the U.S Air Force where his jobs included -driver for the base commander, X-ray technician and a dental technician.
Raymond's other skilled jobs included a skilled carpenter, where he helped build the Prudential Building in Boston, and a contractor for adding home room additions. He was an artist and painted several paintings for the Fort Richardson Hospital, family, and friends. While stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, in his spare time he mined for gold with his family. He was also a avid golf player and on several bowling teams.
