Raymond T Brown, 77, of Omaha, died Monday, March 11, 2024, at his home.
Ray was born March 27, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa to Thomas and Doris (Steele) Brown. He was blessed to be raised with two brothers, Mark and William “Bill” Brown.
Survivors are his children, Traci Brown of Kansas City, Missouri, Travis Brown and his wife, Kelly of Omaha; significant other, Kathleen Sloup, of Omaha; brother, William “Bill” Brown and his wife Beverly “Bev”, of Cairo.
Other survivors include grandchildren Francesca “Frankie” Horn, Javen Engelke, and Oliver (Kiley) Engelke; nephew Stephen Brown; niece Amy Brown, and nephew Mark Brown.
Ray was welcomed into heaven by his parents and brother Mark Brown.
Ray was the oldest of 3 boys and learned the value of hard work at an early age. He was working the family tractor at age 10. 4H was a part of Ray’s childhood and he took pride in showing cattle at AKSARBEN each year. Ray was raised and graduated High School in Emerson, Nebraska. Ray received his bachelor’s degree from Midland Lutheran in 1969. Ray worked for Bellevue Public Schools as a PE teacher at Fort Crook Elementary and girls Volleyball coach at Mission Middle and Bellevue East High Schools. Ray was a coach, mentor, and proudly helped countless friends as a longtime member of AA.
Ray was a former member of the Fremont Pathfinders Chorus and was the 2007 Barbershopper of the Year. Ray enjoyed golfing and watching every type of sport, especially the Cornhuskers. He will be remembered for both his love of singing and enjoyment of being with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Fremont Pathfinders Chorus.
