age 87, La Vista, NE.Born in Santiago, Chile. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII as a bombardier, and completed a decorated Army career, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a Legion of Merit recipient among other honors and served as President of the Heartland Chapter of Retired Officers Association (now MOAA) several times. He was active in the community as a Toastmaster, in Bellevue Little Theatre and as a poll worker in Sarpy County. He married Eileen Y. Delich on September 9, 1982.Survived by wife Eileenchildren Jennifer Smith and Geoffrey Smithstep-children Michael (Denise) Delich, Kathleen (Mark) Johnson, Teresa (Richard) Pointer, Daniel (Rebecca) Delich, Christine (Sid) Davis15 grandchildren6 great grandchildrenPreceded in death by parents Walter and Frances Smithbrother Robert Fredrick Smithsister Frances Bonnycastle SmithVisitation begins 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13th, with Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
