Richard J. Kreager, Ltcol, Usaf, Ret.

April 15, 1942 — December 3, 2015

age 73 years, of Papillion, Nebraska. Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, Richard 'Dick' Kreager was the oldest of Robert and Dorothy's three sons. Drafted into military service in 1966, Dick chose to enter the U.S. Air Force. Over the next 27 years, he served his country with pride and distinction. His tours of duty included service in both the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. Dick was an active athlete and traveled across the country and Europe to participate in marathons and cross country ski races. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and logged countless miles traveling in his RV with his wife and grandkids. Dick was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America. Joining as a Cub Scout, he advanced through the program, earning its highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout. He continued his Scouting career as an adult, volunteering in various positions at the district and troop level. He was the proud father of three Eagle Scouts and helped mentor many others through his service to the organization. Dick's greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren. 'Papa' loved being able to watch their swimming lessons, dance recitals and sporting events and relished any opportunity to spoil them with his kindness and attention. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; sons Brian (Jennifer), Duluth, MN; Eric (Donna), Prescott, WI; Aaron (Heather), Omaha, NE; grandchildren Jocelyn, Lauren, Delaney, Gavin, Ethan, Emma, Jack, Braden, Ronan; brothers David (Kathy), Duluth, MN and Russell (Susan), Moose Lake, MN; as well as a large extended family and numerous friends. Visitation at Trinity Lutheran Church (330 W. HalleckPapillion) Tuesday, December 8th beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment with Military Honors will be in Duluth, Minnesota. Memorials will be directed by the family.
