The Story Ron Tangeman a.k.a "The LaVista Legend"

Ron was born on May 26th, 1952 in Omaha, NE to Barney & Frances Tangeman and older sister Fran (Tootsie). His younger sister Judy was born one year later.Their family lived in various places in Omaha and New York City before moving to LaVista in 1963.He was a graduate of Papillion High School class of 1971.Later that year, Ron was drafted into the United States Army where he spent the next 2 years in Vietnam and Germany as a 101st Airborne Ranger. After being Honorably Discharged, he returned home and worked for his brother in-law Bob Risley at Risley Floor Covering.Ron continued to do floor covering for the remainder of his life.In later years he also worked for Lowes and Ace Hardware.

Ron married Susan (Trochlil) in 1977.They had 3 boys: Ron Jr., Mike and Chris.During their 42 years of marriage Ron and Susan were best friends and their family was the most important part of Ron's life.He considered many of his sons' friends like his own. He enjoyed his dogs, Rocky and Mickey, old western movies (especially "The Duke", John Wayne). He loved to remind people that they shared the same birthday. He also loved 60's music, Elvis, Garth Brooks, entertaining family during holidays, making his famous "Gold Cadillacs", and telling endless stories and jokes. If you knew Ron you were probably asked 2 questions, 1.)Who's the best-looking guy in the world?2.) and why am I?!

The family took yearly vacations to Longboat Key, Florida for the last 25+ years. They enjoyed relaxing on the beach, going to the many restaurants, bars and listening to live music -especially at the Drift Inn on Anna Maria Island.

Ron had numerous friends from childhood who continued to be his best friends throughout his life.Over the years he cherished their friendship. He always said going fishing with his friends were some of the best times of his life.He met friends everywhere he went. It seems like you could not go anywhere with him and not run into somebody he knew, and it always turned into at least a 20-minute conversation.

Ron believed in living life to its fullest, having fun, working hard and doing what was right, and he was not afraid to tell you if he thought something wasn't!
In the words of the great movie Sandlot…

"Hero's get remembered but Legends never die."The LaVista Legend lives on in our hearts and memories.

Ron passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Monday, April 6, 2020 at the age of 67 years.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Herbert "Barney" and Frances Tangeman; and father-in-law Dennis Trochlil.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Susan; sons Ron, Jr. (Lisa), Mike (Ashley), and Chris Tangeman; sisters Fran (Robert †) Risley and Judy (Fred) Brososko; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many great friends.
