Rose Ann Flowers

My name is Tom Flowers. Rose and I were married for 26 years and a couple for 35 years. Our wedding anniversary is April 1st. We met July 22, 1990. She passed away suddenly April the 18th at Bellevue Medical Center. Rose was the most amazing person that I've ever known. Our first encounter was when I had a hand fracture. I was walking home and she approached me and asked what was wrong. She was a nurse at UNMC. Up until last Thursday, she was still taking care of everyone.
She was from South Dakota. She grew up on a farm 50 miles from the nearest town. She moved to Omaha in 1984. She enrolled in nursing school. She loved life. People were drawn to her, babies to seniors. All wanted to be around her. She had many talents and one was cooking, she would say "Healthy diets start at home"
In 1990 she was treated for Graves disease, thyroid cancer, she survived that. In 2001 she was diagnosed with cardio myopathy. She was an artist. She made Derby Hats for dogs, she made blankets, quilts and even clothing for her several stuffed animals.
Christmas was her favorite time of year. She would create and construct Xmas decorations, she didn't believe in a traditional tree. Rose loved all of her friends very much, every Birthday and Holiday she would search for the perfect card from an app. She loved animals as much as people. She was writing a book about typical backyard wildlife all of which she was a part of for 15 years.
Rose and I chose to be organ doner. Her donation was able to help 100 people. She had always put others before herself. Her friends are her family and they are all the best.
Rose I love you very much and you will be greatly missed from everyone in your family.
