Rusty passed away Thursday July 2, 2020 in Honey Creek, Iowa, at the age of 78.He was born Tuesday February 10, 1942 in Gloucester, Massachusetts to Russell and Janet (Black) Hannibal.He had 5 siblings, Cathy, Paige, Beth, Jerry, and Gary.As a teenager, he and his family moved to Beverly, Massachusetts.He graduated from Beverly High School in 1960.He entered the Air Force March 11, 1964.He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant after serving as an Air Policeman and Air Police Supervisor.In 1967, he married Sharon Thompson and they had 2 daughters, Renee and Tara.After his divorce from Sharon, he met Gail McDowell in 1997 and shared the remainder of his life with Gail and her four children, Tammy, Bobbi, Clint, and Chris, driving to Missouri to visit Renee and Tara.As a blended family, they shared 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Throughout his life he was an accomplished Journeyman Carpenter and skilled craftsman who dedicated his free time to helping family and friends.Everyone has a story for how Rusty helped them on their homes and projects.He was a member of the National American Legion and Carpenter's Union Hall 444.He was an avid reader of hot rod and muscle car magazines.He had a great appreciation for Native American art and was an artist himself, decorating his local A & W restaurant in Marceline with Disney paintings and creating one of a kind cups and plates personalized to each recipient at every restaurant he visited.He also carved, painted in oil colors, and built ships in bottles.He could tell the best narrative jokes and he could outdance most, owning the dance floor.He enjoyed a good steak and a beer.He dressed up each holiday in any given character from Santa Claus to the Easter Bunny.You might have found him arguing with his laptop, playing with his automaton toys, or building onto a new place in the house any day you stopped in.He loved God, his motorcycles, and grandkids and you could always spot him in public in his trademark leather vest and hat.He made sure people knew they were loved whether it was a Hershey's kiss on Gail's pillow or to always include a hug when he said ‘Good-bye'.He lived life to the fullest and left the world a better place.
