Ruth Ann "Ruthie" Ruelas was born in Lubbock, Texas to Roy and Ruth Lawson on December 21, 1958. She was the second eldest of six children.
Ruth attended Rockport High School. She graduated from Metro Community College with an Associate's Degree in Health and Human Services. Her tenure was with Sedgwick CMS in Omaha, Nebraska as a Claim Specialist for 23 years.
Ruth was a loving mother who cherished her children. She loved her fur babies and was always open to a good conversation. She enjoyed collecting angels, and going on family outings and dinners, and she loved her morning coffee and evening iced tea.
She had a knack for collecting odds and ends just in case. Ruth's favorite colors were pink, blue, and purple. Many of her evenings were spent watching crime docuseries. Her favorite restaurant was Cracker Barrel.
Ruth's favorite holiday was Christmas. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and would binge-watch them with her girls during the holiday season.
Ruth was a generous woman. She helped anyone and everyone. Be it a place to lay your head or a warm meal, she never let anyone do without. Her most cherished memories with her children and grandchildren were Christmas mornings. She loved waking up and seeing the joy in their eyes.
Ruth loved to watch her Grandchildren play. She was proud of each and every one of them. She loved and took care of them like they were her own children.
Ruth is survived by her five children; Ramona De La Cruz, Jessica De La Cruz, Adrian Ruelas, Matthew Arroyo, and Roseanna Walton all of Omaha, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren; Alexandria Meighan of Milledgeville, Georgia, LaShawn Flores III, Ruben Dunn Jr., Domingo Flores, Michael Flores, Anneliese Dunn, Jesse Gil, Carlos Gil, JaiLee Ruelas, Natalia Gil, Adelina Arroyo, Jocelyn Ruelas, Luciano Diaz, Joaquin Diaz, Everly Walton and Ayden Arroyo all of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters Shirley Cordoba of Omaha, Nebraska and Vera Lopez Nemaha, Nebraska; brothers James Lawson of Adrian, Missouri and Roy Lawson of Horton, Kansas; 10 nieces and 8 nephews; multiple great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews; best friends Jennifer Block and Adela Berumen of Omaha, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her father Roy Lawson; mother Ruth Wright; uncle Charles Smith; aunt Shirley Smith; sister Brenda Salazar; niece Christina Ordonez; and nephew Michael Ruelas.
