Survived by husband Hubert L. Cappen; children: Carrie Callahan (Butch), Kevin Cappen (Beth); 5 grandchildren: Drew Callahan, Bri Forsberg (Mike),Shelbie Callahan, Halia Cappen and Jael Cappen and 2 great grandchildren: Everett Forsberg and Bennett Forsberg.Also survived by sister Mary Schechinger and brother Henry "Butch" Bose; niece Melissa Steinle and nephew Bob Schechinger .
Shirley was preceded in death by father Elmer Bose and mother Opal Bose (Fass).
She was born in Nebraska City and grew up in rural Avoca, Nebraska.She moved to Papillion in 1960.She married Hubert Cappen on October 7, 1961.She worked several jobs before staying at home to raise two children.
Shirley spent her adult life as a devoted mother, grandmother and wife.She enjoyed spending time with her family, rooting for the Huskers, traveling, going to country music concerts and meeting the singers, feeding neighborhood squirrels and finding joy and laughter in every day.
Shirley developed Parkinson's disease at 52.Her husband retired to care for her.She fought a long, hard battle throughout the years, maintaining her abilities as long as she could.She found joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, country music and daily visits with her husband as she transitioned into skilled living under the care of many dedicated caregivers at Hillcrest Country Estates.In her final days, she was surrounded by family and left this life with peace.
