She attended Omaha South High School and graduated at the age of 16. She then went to work for Dr. Melcher in So. Omaha as a receptionist. She met her future husband Howard at a roller skating rink in Millard, Nebraska and they married on Nov. 1, 1947. She and Howard were blessed with 5 children. First, 2 daughters Linda and Deb, then a son Ken, and then 2 more daughters, Cindy and Kristi. She always said her son was her "Rose among the Thorns"! She had 10 Grandchildren who adored their grandmother and made so many memories with her: Jaime, Kelli, Kara, Marty, Jenny, Kyle, Chad, Erin, Jessi and AJ.
Her greatest joy was living long enough to enjoy her 19 Great-grandchildren. She loved all her "Babies", old and young and her nieces and nephews always held a special place in her heart. Everyone always loved coming to "the farm", where there was always fun to be had by all.
She will be missed….
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Howard Schwer; parents George and Lydia Citta; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and son – in – law Jeff Warren.
She is survived by her children Linda (Wayne) Heine, Deb Schwer, Ken (Kathy) Schwer, Cindy Schwer, and Kristi Warren; 10 grandchildren; 19 great – grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
