Steve(Dad) was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Phil & Sally Bartak, he was their second child he had three other siblings Barb, Randy& Rick. He kind of grew up in South Omaha on South 25th Street. That is where he met his best friend Dan(Danny) Kavulak. They remained friends till the day Steve passed away. In high school, he was involved with ROTCand graduated from Omaha South High School in 1967. Well in high school he met Agnes Pacholski.
On September 28, 1968 he married his high school sweetheart.He then served in the Marines for four years. Steve is also a Vietnam Veteran. Well, there he worked on and rode in the medic helicopters. He made Sergeant and was honorably discharged. Steve and Agnes then moved back to South Omaha. They had two children Pamela(Pam) & Phillip. His son Phillip preceded him in death in 1996, In 1994 he gained a son-in-law also named Phillip(Phil) Opdyke.
In 2007 Steve's one and only grandchild, Logan was born. Steve retired from Methodist Hospital. For a short time, he volunteered at the cancer center at Methodist Hospital greeting people. He had a big heart and a kind word for others, and he touched so many people's hearts. He had a saying when explaining something (WHAT A GUY WOULD DO) well what we are gonna all do is miss him greatly. We love you Steve(DAD), and will never forget you.
Stephen is preceded in death by his parents Filbert and Sally Bartak; sister Barb; brother Randy; and son Phillip Bartak.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Agnes Bartak; daughter Pam (Phil) Odyke; grandson Logan Opdyke; brother Rick Bartak; sister-in-law Linda (Randy †) Bartak; and other family and friends.
