GLENDALE, AZ – Stephen Joseph Milobar Sr., passed from this life August 29th, at the age of 76. He was born January 12, 1947, at St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, to Leo John Milobar Sr. and Louise Julia (Sova) Milobar. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Leo John Milobar Jr and his brother-in-law Jack Zyblut. Stephen graduated from South High School (1965, Omaha), attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1966. A decorated veteran, serving his country for 29 years. Upon graduation from recruit training, he attended yeoman school. He worked his way up through the enlisted ranks, became a Chief Petty Officer, and retired in 1995 after having been commissioned as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW04). Stephen’s many duty assignments included duty aboard the USCGC Morgenthau and USCGC Zinnia, Marine Safety Office San Francisco, Marine Safety Office Port Arthur TX, Training Center Petaluma CA and the Integrated Support Command Alameda CA. After retiring from the United States Coast Guard, Stephen moved to Glendale, AZ in 1995. He continued his Catholic faith with the community of friends at Saint James Roman Catholic Parish. Stephen enjoyed exploring the (gold country) rivers of California and the ghost towns of the Nevada and Arizona deserts. Camping, gold panning, nugget detecting and exploring the off-road trails brought many years of enjoyment for Steve, his boys and his friends Tom and Joe. He was a member of the GPAA, Lost Dutchmans Gold Association and was a member of E Clampus Vitus, Julia Bullette Chapter 1864. Steve is survived by his son Stephen Joseph Jr. (Tina): two granddaughters Morgan and Riley, son Russell James (Alison): two grandchildren Mitchell and Sara, sister Mary Louise Zyblut: Timm and Missy, ex-wife Carol Milobar.
