Steve answered the call to serve his nation in the US Navy during the Vietnam War as a flight medic on the Navy Aircraft Carrier Corral Sea. He spent five years serving his country.
Upon return stateside in California, he decided to attend Mortuary College to become a Funeral Director.He worked all over southern California as a Funeral Director and met the love of his life, Robin, on June 24, 1988.Much like Robin's parent's, they were married within the month on July 22, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Steve and Robin worked together as Funeral Directors for Rose Hills in Whittier, California until 1998 when they decided to return to Nebraska where they have lived since.Steve went to work for MAT – Metro Area Transit as a bus driver and was promoted to supervisor prior to his retirement in 2014.After retiring, Steve, of course, got bored and spent his time in jobs he enjoyed at both Omaha Limo and Home Depot where he worked until 2018 when he finally retired.
Steve loved his two Wheaten Terriers, George and Gracie, good cigars, good scotch and the love of his life Robin.
Steve is survived by his wife of 32 years Robin Eschell of Papillion, Nebraska; Father In Law and Mother In Law Bob and Pat Thompson of Papillion, Nebraska; Sister In Law and Brother In Law Tish and Mark Mineer of Phoenix, Arizona; Brother In Law and Sister In Law John and Cindy Thompson of Papillion, Nebraska; Brother In Law James Thompson of Richland, Washington; along with eight nieces, one nephew, one great niece and nephew and many friends.
