Vernon was born in Council Bluffs, IA on August 16, 1927 to parents Terman and Mildred (Simmons) Hansen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marge; children Janelle, Kirk (Sandy), and Sally Hansen; grandsons Ben Lichtenauer and Mike (Jenny) Livingston; great-grandson Harrison Livingston
