Virgil M (Butch) Patro, the son of Florence Peterson and Carl Patro, was born July 19, 1941, in Manly, Iowa. He and his 13 brothers and sisters were raised in Garner, IA.
Butch was a self-made man. He left home at the age of 14 to work in the fields. He did what was needed his early years, working for his uncle (Osceola, IA), as a ranch-hand, a silver and gold miner (S. Dakota), and as a meat cutter (NE).
In 1967, he moved to Wahoo, NE to work for his dad as a Carpenter, and subsequently started work at Wahoo Concrete. In 1969, he met the love of his life - Marletta Lynch. On Dec. 12, 1970, a sleety, but beautiful day, he married Marletta at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and has been happily married ever since. Mitchell, his first born was born on July 29, 1971, Michael, their second son, was born June 3, 1972.
Butch worked at Wahoo Concrete until he transferred to Papillion and moved to La Vista, Sept. 1, 1972.
In 1975 he became a maintenance technician at Midlands Hospital and served the community. In 1986 Butch started his own business, All House Remodeling, and worked as a carpenter and remodeler until 1997. After sustaining an injury, he joined his wife managing Tiniest Angels Daycare where he loved on children for 20 years. He taught each one how to love, laugh, respect others, and the importance of family.
Butch loved sports, especially Husker football! He played baseball himself and enjoyed coaching T-ball through coach pitch for the La Vista Recreation Department. He also loved soccer and coached soccer age 7- high school, started the ENSA Select Team, and played himself until the age of 61.
Butch had a strong faith. He walked closely with God. For 40 years Butch, volunteered his building and maintenance expertise at Wildwood Christian Church, as well as serving in clown ministry. He loved woodworking, fishing, Husker football, and children. He loved eagles, Husker memorabilia and antiques.
He survived by his lovely wife of 51 years Marletta Patro, sons Mitchell (Jen) Patro, Michael (Kim) Patro; grandchildren Samantha (Zach) Seifert, Isaiah, Megan, Alexandria, and Abigail; great grandchildren Brylie Mays and Jocelyn Morales; brothers, sisters, bother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, as well as several nieces, nephews, special friends, and many many forever daycare kids.
Butch died peacefully May 14, 2022, in his home after several years of battling medical issues.
