William L. "Bill" Langdon

William L. "Bill" Langdon passed away peacefully August 9, 2015, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska at St. Joseph Hospital to Leroy and Jean Langdon on November 25, 1946. The family lived in Ralston, Nebraska then later moved to La Vista, Nebraska after a brief stay in Tucson, Arizona. Bill attended Papillion High School in Papillion, Nebraska where he excelled in baseball, football and basketball. He graduated from there in 1965. Bill began his professional career in retail store management, including store manager for San Antonio-based Gulf Mart and Farmers Market in Deming, New Mexico. Bill and his wife owned Cash Mart Pharmacy in Hobbs and Cardinal Drug in Eunice, New Mexico. Later he owned Cash Mart Foods in Las Cruces. Taking a break from the retail industry, Bill started a trucking business and was an over-the-road truck driver. He was a private investigator for a period of time and in his retirement drove a tractor for his brother-in-law on the family farm. Bill enjoyed traveling, watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball and reading.He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Dennis; and sisters Nancy and Betty.Bill is survived by his wife Patricia "Tris" McSherry; brothers Kenneth Alter, Michael Langdon, Bob Graham; and sisters Chris Keck, Kathy Williams, and many nieces, nephews, other family and good friends.A celebration of Bill's life will be held Saturday, September 5th beginning with a visitation at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Bill's favorite charity to aid their efforts to fight hunger in Luna County, New Mexico.
