William J. Halgard passed away on February 13, 2022. He was born in Omaha, and attended South High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy, where he served during the Korean conflict.
In 1957, Bill married Marynola Novotny, and during their 64 years together, they were blessed with four children: Mike, Cindy (husband John), Christine (husband Rick), Mary Cecilia, and 10 grandchildren.
Bill was a steamfitter and a proud member of Local 464 Steamfitters and Plumbers Union. He worked for many different companies over the years, including York and Honeywell. Bill enjoyed his dogs, cats, motorcycles, cars, fishing and boating. His hobbies included metal crafting in his shop and he was a die hard Nebraska Cornhusker fan.
An insatiable seeker of knowledge, Bill spent his later years exploring computers and educating himself on many subjects, particularly politics. Bill had a wonderful dry sense of humor and would use this talent to cheer those who came to him to discuss their problems. His children consulted him often for advice regarding car problems, and how to fix virtually anything that had broken.
Words cannot fully express how much he will be missed and his children feel privileged to have called him "Dad." He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, his Aunts Josephine Nusrallah and Dorothy Seydlitz, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Halgard, and his infant daughter Catherine.
