William E. McArthur

William E. McArthur was born in Nebraska City, NE, on October 5, 1946, to Richard H. McArthur and Frances D. McArthur.

After graduating from Omaha Central High School in 1964, Bill joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, serving until 1972. Bill married Susan Aylward on August 11, 1968, and to this marriage were born two children, Renee Lynn in 1969 and Richard Scott in 1970. Bill married Carol Skradski in 2009.

Bill worked most of his career with the Omaha Public Power District, beginning as a steamfitter and retiring as Supervisor of Mechanical Maintenance for the North Omaha Power Station, serving over 30 years.

Bill loved to fish and hunt, although most of his recent hunting was done with binoculars. He was happiest outdoors.

After years of declining health, Bill passed away on March 22, 2025, in the loving presence of family.

Bill was preceded in death by parents Richard & Frances McArthur; in-laws Gordon & Clara Aylward and Louis & Shirley Skradski; and former spouse Susan McArthur. He is survived by his wife, Carol McArthur; children, Renee McArthur and Richard (Erin) McArthur; step-children Rob (Melissa) Petersen, Susie (Rob) Meyer, Jenny (Larry Nelson) Pemberton, Trish (Kevin) Patton; grandchildren, Gracia and Maxwell McArthur; 9 step-grandchildren; siblings Delores (Doug) McArthur-Miller, John McArthur, Joyce (Tom) McArthur-Johnson; numerous nieces & nephews; and many relatives and friends.


In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Let’s Fish Omaha or Felius Cat Cafe & Rescue.
