Bill Sucha was a dedicated family man who, along with Alma, his beloved wife of 63 years, raised four children while finding the time to give of himself to causes he believed in.
Bill was retired Army and National Guard where he served for many years as Mess Sargent. He was employed by Western Electric for several decades, seeing the company through many ownership changes. His volunteer spirit led him to be part of the Heartland Pioneers, where he rang bells for the Salvation Army and put his Mess Sargent skill to use in overseeing and directing "Turkey Fest" which provided Thanksgiving dinners for over 1200 people in Omaha every year.He could be found any Wednesday afternoon volunteering at the Hall of History at Boys Town.Bill's dedication to those less fortunate allowed him to be extremely generous, supporting St. Joseph's Indian School, the National Parks and other charitable organizations too numerous to list.
Early military duty stations influenced his interests later in life. After being stationed in Germany, Bill became a dedicated member of the German-American society in Omaha where he was aptly dubbed Stengel Baer in honor of his much-loved cigars. His duty station in Detroit led to a die-hard dedication to the Detroit Tigers, Redwings and Lions. As a lifelong Catholic, Bill also supported Notre Dame football with all his heart.Bill's love of traveling and his expert skill at gardening is being carried on by his children and their families.
Bill was greeted in heaven by his parents John and Rose Sucha and his son David Sucha.Left to celebrate his life are his wife Alma (Nelson) Sucha, children and spouses Frank and Janet (Serrin) Sucha, Michele (Sucha) and Christopher Mattingly, Paul and Ann (Schulte) Sucha.
