Yano “Big” Jones, born December 5, 1976, died suddenly on Monday, June 10th, 2024. Yano's life was defined by his unwavering commitment to serving and inspiring others especially his devotion to his family. Yano was simply a difference maker, fighter, survivor, motivational speaker, the one and only, Coach, Dad, Husband, and Principal Mr. Yano Jones!
Yano leaves behind his beloved wife, Nissa, and two children, Yano 14, and Aspen, 9.
As a father and husband, Yano kept his family on the move. He never wanted the family to miss out on an adventure. Every day, he made life full of laughter and entertainment. You never knew where you would end up with Yano, whether a game, a play at the school, an event he found in town, or an exotic zoo on a family trip. The kids were the center of his world. If there was an opportunity for the kids to excel he was on it. He cheered them on in their passions. He wanted the kids to know they were going to do great things in life and he was there supporting the dream.
The marriage he shared with Nissa for 16 years was like no other. They loved to dance, laugh, and be with friends and family. Yano was Nissa’s number one supporter. He was so proud of the career she built over the years. He would tell any and everyone how great she was in the courtroom. He praised her as a mother and always encouraged the kids to remember she was their best friend. To Yano, Nissa was his greatest accomplishment. Their love for one another was unmatched and electrifying to witness.
He dedicated his career to education - touching countless lives. In and outside of the classroom, Yano’s mission was to uplift and inspire. He devoted his time to coaching football, providing spiritual guidance, and helping young people reach their full potential. Known as the “Tight End Whisperer,” Yano was instrumental in getting Omaha-area athletes recognized and offered Division I scholarships, with some even reaching the NFL. His unique ability to build a supportive village allowed every child under his care to believe in themselves and trust in the process, while also fostering a strong faith in the Lord and Savior.
His passing leaves a void in the lives of many touched by his generosity and spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider donating to support Yano's children’s future endeavors.
