Yolanda R. Mcdade

December 16, 1967 — April 18, 2024

Yolanda Rachel McDade was born December 16, 1967 in Omaha, Nebraska to Sam and Lee Esther McDade. She was the first of three children. At an early age she was often tasked with one assignment - to look after her little brothers. No matter how hard she tried, it seemed like mission impossible - because she was always double teamed.

Yolanda expressed her love for Christ at a young age and was baptized at St. Marks Baptist Church when she was a teenager. As a young girl, she discovered her appreciation of music and her God-given gift for singing. Yolanda embraced that gift and became a member of the “Swing Choir,” “Concert Choir”  and “Mixed Chorus” at Bryan High School.

In 1986, Yolanda graduated from Bryan and soon after attended Metropolitan Technical Community College. It didn’t take Yolanda long to find her career path. She was hired at First Data/Fiserv in 1994 and was a loyal employee with the company for 30 years. Because of her hard work and commitment, she was recognized as the “Employee of the Year” during her employment. Yolanda enjoyed the people she worked with at First Data/Fiserv the most. She and her coworkers participated in several fundraiser walks. Yolanda’s favorite was Susan G. Komen’s “Race For a Cure.” She helped organize teams and participated in the walk every year.

Yolanda was also a creative Entrepreneur. She and one of her good friends developed an online shop called Yoyo-MAC where she sold clothing, shoes, accessories and jewelry. Her virtual shop specialized in items uniquely designed for breast cancer awareness. One of Yolanda’s proudest accomplishments was owning and operating her virtual business.

While Yolanda worked hard, she also believed in playing hard. She truly enjoyed life!  If there was a concert, comedy show or a festival in town - she was there. She loved being out and about with her friends. Yolanda also appreciated a good meal and was a self-proclaimed foodie. Almost every weekend you could find her exploring and savoring the cuisine of the newest and best restaurants in town. Yolanda would always post her best restaurant finds on social media.

Yolanda had several passions. She loved reading a good book, using her creativity to craft projects, getting in her daily steps, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and all things Prince and Purple. While Yolanda embraced her role of big Sister, her most cherished title was “Aunt.”  Yolanda treasured spending time with her Niece and Nephews and had a special relationship with each one of them. “Aunt Yo” would often check in with the trio and was known for surprising them with back-to-school outfits, the best birthday gifts and the perfect presents at Christmas.

Yolanda may have had a quiet disposition - but she had a huge heart. Her love language was Giving.  She remembered and recognized every special occasion with a call or card - and - she was always there for her friends and family. She was a devoted Daughter, loving Sister,  amazing Aunt and trusted Friend.

Yolanda McDade transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, April 18, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sam and Lee Esther McDade. There are many who will cherish her memory: her Brothers Chris (Brenda) and Todd (Serese);  her Niece and Nephews: Alexxis, Tyler and Jordan; her Uncles and Aunts:  Luther McDade, T.C. McDade, Leon Newton, Mariella Wells, Gwendolyn Johnson and a host of cousins and friends.
