Margaret Lucille Welch, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, December 30, 2018 in LaVista, Nebraska at the age of 76.She was born on June 21, 1942 in Kimball, Nebraska, one of four children born to Ruby May Blake and Harold Mervin Blake. She was raised in rural Kansas & Nebraska and graduated from Banner County High School, Harrisburg, NEin 1960.
Margaret attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma earning a degree in Secondary Education.She met her future husband, Howard Welch, while attending college in Bethany, OK & they were married on June 26, 1964.They had two sons, Shannon Lae & Kevin Todd.She later earned a Masters Degree in Education from Texas A & M University in Corpus Christi, Texas & taught at the high school level in Ewa Beach, Hawaii & Corpus Christi, Texas. She later owned & operated a secretarial & resume service for a business complex, providing services to various small businesses. She also was a bowling program director for AMF until her retirement.
Her husband's time in the Navy took the family to many locations including Memphis, TN, Jacksonville, FL, Whidbey Island, WA, Iroquois Point, Hawaii & finally Corpus Christi, Texas where she lived for over 40 years until October 2018 when she relocated to LaVista, NE.
Margaret gave her life to Christ when she was 14 years old & lived a life based on Christian principals.As a music lover, she played the piano & accordion for fun as well as for church functions.As a teacher, she was a kind, patient, & caring person who poured her life into her students, always wanting them to be successful.She was an avid bowler, participating in league bowling well into her 70's.She was a whiz at working crossword puzzles & was never without a puzzle in her hands.
Margaret is survived by her son, Kevin Todd Welch of LaVista, Nebraska, sister Doris Holt of Warner Robins, GA, sister Leatha Pearson of Centennial, CO, & former husband Howard Welch of Henderson,Texas.She was preceded in death by her son, Shannon Lae Welch, parents Ruby May Blake & Harold Mervin Blake, stepmother Jennie A. Blake, & brother Leonard LeRoy Blake.
